violin solo - Ester Mägi (1922-) “Kalevipoja teekond Soome”
3*23*2 4231 timp perc cel hp Mezzo solo Male chorus str. Cantata “Kalevipoja teekond Soome” (Kalevipoeg’s Journey to Finland) was written in 1954 as part of the diploma work of her post-graduate studies in Moscow Conservatory under Vissarion Schebalin. It was first performed on 5th of November 1961 by Urve Tauts, State Academic Male Choir (choir master Uno Järvela) and Symphony Orchestra of Estonian Radio (nowadays Estonian National Symphony Orchestra) with Neeme Järvi conducting. The LP with the recording by same performers was released in 1960s as well. The orchestral and choir parts went missing probably during 1980s and in 2011 only the score was discovered in the archives. This new edition, new score and parts were made especially for Ester Mägi’s 90th Birthday concert on 13th of January 2012.
